My work is inspired by the Beijing opera. In ancient China, opera actors were always in the lowest social and economic position. Many of them were born with poor backgrounds and have no human rights. However, in contrast, these actors act an opposite and different kind of life on the stage. The characters show wealth, nobility and hero figures. They hide their sadness behind a smile in front of audiences. In today's society, life becomes a big stage, people are just like those opera actors. They learned to be hypocritical and started to forget their true selves. Thus, as audiences, people hardly know each other, which we could say "my eyes deceive me".
