My work is inspired by the deceiving nature of beauty, and how beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think beauty can be deceiving as our appearance is only skin deep yet as a society we focus so much on our outer not inner beauty however, the outer beauty may sometimes be deceiving and bring to question - do my eyes deceive me? In my painting I also wanted to further the idea of deception and beauty visually in the subject matter and how they're presented. Therefore, the figure is a similar colour palette to the flowers with both subject matter also having a similar depth.
